There are 3 types of solar systems
- On-grid solar systems
- off-grid solar systems
- hybrid solar systems
Grid Connect The most common solar solution across Australia, a grid connect system ties directly to the mains electricity network. Solar panels generate power during the day, offsetting your energy consumption and feeding any surplus back to the grid for a feed-in credit. Ideal for homes and businesses in urban and suburban areas with reliable grid access, it’s a cost-effective way to reduce power bills and lower your carbon footprint
Standalone (Off-Grid) Designed for properties beyond the reach of the grid — or those who simply want complete energy independence — a standalone system generates and stores all the power you need on-site. Solar panels paired with a battery bank provide reliable electricity around the clock, with no power bills and no dependence on the network. In Australia’s vast regional and rural areas, standalone systems are often not just a lifestyle choice, but the most practical and economical solution available.
Hybrid A hybrid system combines grid connection with on-site battery storage, giving you the ability to store solar energy for use after dark while remaining connected to the mains as a backup. Though increasingly popular, hybrid systems add complexity and cost compared to a standard grid connect setup.
Note: We specialise in grid connect and standalone systems. We do not install hybrid systems, but are happy to point you in the right direction if that’s what you’re looking for.
